In a couple of weeks time Supercoach is attending an advanced coaching seminar.
Supercoach is required to give a short talk on a relevant subject.Supercoach has chosen Twenty20 batting.
Supercoach needs perceptive, insughtful ideas for his talk.To get you thinking.....
Is twenty20 significant or a flash in the pan? Is batting technique in twenty20 different to batting in limited overs? Do you have a batting plan in twnty20 or is it just swing and hope? Is there any need to run in twenty20 or should some batters just be sluggers? Does it matter that much if you get out in twenty20?

twenty20 is not a flash in the pan but it may be over used an may become stale.
ur basic technique in t20 is the same as in limited overs but some innovation and creativity helps.
yes u need a batting plan in t20 if everyone went out and swung for the stands we we see scores of 50 and less.
yes good running is critical and this is shown in how the aussies run, good running between the wicket wins matches in any form of the game!!!!
no it doesnt matter as much if you get out in twenty but in saying that ur wicket should be valued because if the idea of getting out doesnt mean anything starts to develop this could have negativeimpacts in other forms of the game

Is twenty20 significant or a flash in the pan? It appears to be significant and is here to stay, however with true cricket lovers the other formats will always be more important/sigficant. Twenty20 just brings in heaps of fringe/outsider fans which is why its so popular. Is batting technique in twenty20 different to batting in limited overs? I think you mean differ from Tests? Or 50 over matches? Because Twenty20 IS limited overs Anyway, yes it does differ - in fact the way it differs is that there is no where near as much required. Improvised shots e.g. paddle sweeps play a bigger role but mainly its all slog - and rediculous short boundaries and flat pitches make this far easier than it would be in any other form. Do you have a batting plan in twnty20 or is it just swing and hope? This much depends on the situation. Batting first I imagine there is not much of a plan, unless early wickets fall. However batting 2nd there would be, very big target = hit and hope, small target = plan to reach the target comfortably/sensibly. Is there any need to run in twenty20 or should some batters just be sluggers? Silly question, flying through to complete a 2nd or scampering a quick single provides crucial runs in any form of the game. Does it matter that much if you get out in twenty20? Not really no.

Is twenty20 significant or a flash in the pan?
im hoping its a flash in the pan, twenty20 being played more often means more retirements in the longer, gruelling true competition of the game
Is batting technique in twenty20 different to batting in limited overs? it is different in the fact that you don't have time to play yourself in, you have to play your strokes from the get go, the thing is if you try too much you will get out, you have to stick to your attacking strokes, so not really, just more of your shots Do you have a batting plan in twnty20 or is it just swing and hope? you should have a batting plan, if a team has an anchor that bats through and gets 80 + the team can build around in, its not necessarily a batting plan, its what your stuck with to do your job for the team Is there any need to run in twenty20 or should some batters just be sluggers? toms response was good, Does it matter that much if you get out in twenty20? yes, wickets can change the momentum of the game, getting out with 4 overs to go, if you're in can cost 10-20 valuable runs of balls that could be hit for 6 by a batsman with his eye in, only going for singles, or more wickets,
the teams that construct partnerships generally win the game

Interesting to see in todays paper...talk of an oz twenty20 league and franchised teams breaking down the state based system.
I know peter holmes a court applied for an IPL franchise and missed out.Maybe we could have a Sydney franchise paying in red and green.....hey maybe they could play at north sydney oval..bring the crowds back
BTW...north sydney bears are 7-0 in the nsw cup.

Yes, isn't it great ;D Just wish first grade could be going as good...
WOW, a Rabbitohs Cricket team would be awesome! I think we should get the footy time right first however lol.
A franchise Twenty/20 comp would be good, it could be played at the same time as the IPL and therefore the traditional State competitions wouldn't be effected. Although I think it should be shorter, IPL is too long. It would start to turn into the way european soccer is organised, a champions league would emerge! (Actually I think one already has been organised??)
What paper were you reading Jacko?
