12th Man Rule.
The team sheet is completed before the toss and teams have an opportunity to elect two people to 'share' the game, with one player playing the first week and the 12th man to take over from him the 2nd week.
If the player is batting at the end of the first week he retires out. However if the team is bowling at the end of the day and the player to sit out the following week has bowled, the 12th man apparently can also bowl in that innings the following week.
TC's opinion: Its a good rule that will really help some teams that have players with inconsistent availability. But the big incosistency is that both players can end up bowling in the same innings. If this is the case, then shouldn't the 12th man be able to take over the innings if the player batting in week 1 is in at the end of the day? They have nearly got this right, but they need to change it so as both players can not bowl in the same innings, otherwise it is open to exploitation.
Renaming of the Grades
Say goodbye to A1s, B2s etc. The naming system is now 1st Grade, 2nd Grade etc. With Presidents Cup being a new comp where each team has a maximum of 4 over 18s (see other thread). We're going back to the 60's baby!
Sunday Twenty20 Competition
Using a pool structure, I think it is played every 2nd week. Not too many details have been released on this yet, but I'm keen!!
Bring on Season 2009/10!
